Vulcans Lose, 5-1, at Ballpark of Birmingham
|
The Nassau Vulcans went down to defeat to Petro Bouchard and his Birmingham teammates. The final score was 5-1 in favor of the Bears. Pedro Escalante was credited with the save, his 5th in 5 tries. The Bears raised their record to 57-68.
Yukinaga Suzuki had a big 2-run double for the Bears in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Birmingham leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Dale Castillo and swatted a double to center. It was his 19th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bears ahead, 4-1.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Suzuki.
