Zephyrs Pick Up 4-3 Win
|
The Reno Zephyrs turned back the Bakersfield Bears, 4-3, at The Oaks at Aera Field. Griff Aspinwall, in particular, had a fine performance. He went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Toby Ayers got the win, improving to 2-4. He worked 7.2 innings, giving up 3 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 2. At 23-15, Reno is in first place in the Sovereign League Desert Hills.
Aspinwall had a consequential at-bat in the top of the fourth for the Zephyrs. Coming up with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Reno trailing 3-2, he hit a 2-run single.
Aspinwall told a Reno Gazette reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
