The Mexicali Shmoes trumped the El Cajon Virus, 7-4, at Ballpark of El Cajon. Mexicali left fielder Josh Shipway was terrific. He went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 3. The loss drops El Cajon to 8-4.

Mexicali used the timely hitting of Myoung-chul Hwang to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Shmoes on top, 6-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Hwang told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
