Lucky Rodents Fall Short, 3-2, at Pittsburgh
The Pittsburgh Cathedrals put the giddy home crowd in an even more jubilant mood after beating the Minnesota Lucky Rodents in the season opener at Cathedrals Ballpark. Right Fielder Russell Johnson won plaudits for Pittsburgh. He was 4 for 4 with 4 singles.

The Cathedrals got a big at-bat from catcher Clarence Stephens. For the game, Stephens was 1 for 2 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 1st double of the season gave Pittsburgh a 3-1 lead.

"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Pittsburgh manager Fernando Medrano.
