Starbursts Pull Off Thrilling 2-1 Win in Extras
The Villanova Starbursts had to overcome a fine effort from Marshall pitcher John Gentry to grab a narrow 2-1 win at Starbursts Ballpark. Gentry went 7.1 innings and allowed no runs. Villanova reliever Chris Owen picked up the win to move to 1-0. Joe Johnson suffered the loss. The victory makes Villanova 4-4.

Villanova won the game in the bottom of the 11th inning. With one out and Joe Johnson on the mound for Marshall, center fielder Enrico Cruz hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Starbursts fans to their feet.

"This kind of game is tough on the heart," said winning manager Bill Hill.
