Cuevas Powers Scarlet Brutes to 7-2 Win
|
A 5-RBI performance from first baseman Mauro Cuevas led the Ohio State Scarlet Brutes to a win over the Rice Puddings, 7-2. Eddy Young was the winning pitcher. Over 5.1 innings, he allowed no runs on 2 hits, with 2 walks and no strikeouts. The win gives Ohio State a record of 3-4.
With Ohio State leading 3-0 in the bottom of the sixth, Cuevas hit a cutter from Walt Acosta for a grand slam home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Scarlet Brutes ahead, 7-0.
Cuevas said afterward that he was glad to help his team win.
