Astronauts Snatch Late Win
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Ohio State Scarlet Brutes and Purdue Astronauts get after it.
John Barnes never let Ohio State get something going. The Purdue right-hander commanded his splitter in pitching the Astronauts to a 5-1 win. Purdue pitcher Patrick Yates got the win, upping his record to 2-0. Mike Smith got the loss.
Jeff Cooley went 1-3 with a walk for Purdue. The 19-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring walk off Artie McKee. It was his 6th walk of the season.
"The hot tub feels extra good after a solid win," said Cooley.
The win makes Purdue 7-7.
