The Stanford Axe did just enough to secure a victory over the West Virginia Sherpas, 6-5, at Axe Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Bob Barnes. Juan Villarreal earned the save for Stanford, his 5th of the year. The losses continue to mount for West Virginia, which has now dropped 7 in a row.

Mike Rodríguez chipped in for Stanford with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the catcher had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
