West Virginia Still On the Schneid After 3-1 Loss to Axe
The West Virginia Sherpas extended their losing streak with a loss to the Stanford Axe.

Sherman Espinosa could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his West Virginia Sherpas lost, dropping a 3-1 decision to the Stanford Axe at Axe Ballpark. Their 11-5 record puts the Axe third in the Western 10 Conference.

José González, the Stanford designated hitter, contributed a 2-run single in the bottom of the third inning to make the score 2-0, Axe. For the game, González went 1 for 4, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"This losing is getting old," said West Virginia manager José Guerrero.
