The Central Florida Wicked Witches trumped the Purdue Astronauts, 3-1, at Central Florida Grounds. Central Florida left fielder Kenny Martin was terrific. He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Júlio Ortega, who went 5.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 7 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 6. His record now stands at 1-0. Denny White earned the save, his 1st.

In the first inning, Martin had a 2-run home run for Central Florida. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Wicked Witches on top, 3-0.

"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Martin.

Yes, it was a win for Central Florida; but their 5-11 record is still nothing to boast about.
