Cook Powers Chiefs to 14-4 Win
The Illinois Chiefs trumped the Rice Puddings, 14-4, at Chiefs Ballpark. Illinois shortstop Pete Cook was terrific. He was 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 5. The winner in relief was Juan Camacho. He is now 1-1. The left-hander allowed 3 runs on 3 hits in 3.1 innings. The win gives the Chiefs a record of 6-13.

Cook had a key at-bat for Illinois early in the game. With the bases loaded, he hit a grand slam home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and gave Illinois an early 5-1 lead.

Cook described the clubhouse as "strangely calm" after the game.
