Astronauts Get 1-0 Win Versus UAB
|
The Purdue Astronauts topped the UAB Dragons, 1-0, in United States Collegiate Baseball Association action at Astronauts Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to Purdue pitcher and Floral Park, New York, native Chuck Carter. Carter, now 1-3, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Greg Nance recorded the save, his 5th.
The Astronauts got a big at-bat from second baseman Adam Lee. For the game, Lee went 1 for 2 with a double and a walk. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 6th double of the season gave Purdue a 1-0 lead.
"Good to pick up this win," Lee said.
At 9-13, Purdue is in 7th place in the Perfect 10 Conference.
