Minnesota used a superb performance from starting pitcher Kent Sowder to down the Stanford Axe, 3-1. In 5 innings, Sowder surrendered 1 hit, while striking out 1 and walking 4. He allowed no runs. Dave Jackson earned save number 7 this season.

Minnesota used the bat of Ray O'Neal to get the win. The designated hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Lucky Rodents ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it did its damage.

"Anytime I can help the team, I feel good about it," said O'Neal.

The Lucky Rodents now own a record of 17-15.
