The Puddings grabbed a win, 3-2, at Ballpark of California, overcoming a fine effort from California pitcher Peter Crawford. Crawford went 5 innings and allowed 1 run. At 18-13, the Puddings find themselves in 4th place in the American Heartland Conference.

Rice used the timely hitting of Alex Ward to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Puddings ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.

Ward told the Rice Daily News: "I think I thrive on conflict. It brings out my best."
