Palouse Knights Drop Purple Haze, 6-4
|
It took 16 innings to settle this one.
Washington State Palouse Knights starter Luis Valentín was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Northwestern Purple Haze, 6-4. James Henry earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3 innings. He upped his record to 1-1.
Washington State used a timely hit from Jeff Carney to get the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the 16th inning to put the Palouse Knights ahead, 6-4. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"It's a satisfying feeling, to win like we did," said Valentín.
The Palouse Knights move to 18-14 with the win, while the Purple Haze drop to 17-15.
