Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Dragons
UAB took on UCLA in front of a lively crowd.

The UAB Dragons bested the UCLA Chili Peppers by a score of 7-2, with pinch hitter Bob Carney getting the main credit. On the day, Carney went 1-1 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Dragons. The victory makes UAB 14-26.

Carney had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 2-2 splitter from George Villegas, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Dragons a 4-1 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Carney.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said UAB manager Lawrence Hensley.
