Chiefs Topple Chili Peppers, 3-1

Illinois starter Shane Posey pitched well against the UCLA Chili Peppers at Chiefs Ballpark. The right-hander led his team to a win, 3-1. Posey, now 2-3, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 1 hit, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Kelly Lewis got the save, the 9th for him this season.
Early in the game, left fielder Greg Moorer had a 2-run home run for Illinois. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Chiefs on top, 2-0.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Chiefs manager Bennett Dean, "I like our chances."
