Scarlet Brutes Continue Hot Streak with Extra-Inning Win
|
Ohio State and St. John's left the crowd in suspense until the last at-bat.
The St. John's Kaisers got a superb performance from pitcher Earl Mullins, but the Ohio State Scarlet Brutes still won the game, 2-1. Mullins threw 6.2 innings of shutout ball. Ohio State currently is in 4th place in the Perfect 10 Conference at 26-19.
Ohio State won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With one out and Doug Sheringham on the mound for St. John's, right fielder Darwin González hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Scarlet Brutes fans to their feet.
González said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
