Astronauts Beat Unifiers, 5-2
|
The Purdue Astronauts topped the Cincinnati Unifiers, 5-2, in United States Collegiate Baseball Association action at Unifiers Ballpark. The game was highlighted by the performance of Purdue first baseman Jeff Gaines. Purdue is in 8th place in the Perfect 10 Conference with a record of 23-26.
Purdue used the timely hitting of Gabe Anderson to capture the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Astronauts on top, 5-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but he made it count.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Gaines. "And not try to do too much."
