The Pittsburgh Cathedrals got a superb performance from pitcher Guillermo Piña, but the Marshall McConaugheys still won the game, 4-2. Piña threw 5.1 innings allowing 2 runs. Their 33-20 record puts the McConaugheys first in the American Heartland Conference.

Marshall used the clutch hitting of Larry Reyes to capture the win. The designated hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the McConaugheys ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a big one.

"It was just a matter of executing," said Marshall manager Jiro Heida.
