Ortíz Impressive in Boise Win
|
Boise Remuda starter José Ortíz was in fine form. He led his team to victory over the Long Beach Oilers, 4-1. Herb Williams got the save, the 10th for him this season. The Remuda, at 24-12, lead by one game in their division.
Ortíz was effective for Boise, seldom allowing the Oilers to square up a pitch. The right-hander tossed 97 pitches over 8 innings. He limited Long Beach to just 1 run on 3 hits.
Ortíz pitched well, despite being a bit under the weather. "To be honest, I was sick before the game," he said. "Just a stomach bug."
