The rain came, as predicted, but the Takaoka Shiko and Mexicali Shmoes were able to complete their ballgame.

Takaoka rode a decent outing from starter Craig Keen to victory over the Mexicali Shmoes. The final score was 5-3. The Shiko move to 25-20 with the win, while the Shmoes drop to 36-9.

The Shmoes had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Shiko going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old third baseman Héctor Hernández came to the plate. Hernández hit a 2-run double on a 0-1 fastball from Mexicali hurler Naohiro Seki. It was Hernández's 4th double of the year.

In postgame comments to the Takaoka Citizen, Hernández said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
