The Guadalajara Chivas Rayadas got a sterling performance from pitcher Félix Villalobas, but the El Ray Vampiros still prevailed, 1-0. Villalobas threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball. El Ray goes to 8-9.
El Ray used a well-timed hit by Gustavo Torres to capture the win. The catcher socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Vampiros ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" El Ray manager Ángel Alvarado said.
