Harpoon Drop Maulers, 4-3
|
The Hartford Harpoon faced a tough opponent in Manchester pitcher José Martínez, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Whiten Field by a final score of 4-3. Martínez went 5.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Aaron Goater picked up the win, improving his season record to 8-11. He struck out 7 in 6.1 innings. Jeffery Owen earned the save for Hartford, his 3rd.
Hartford used a clutch hit from Hwui-ning Yei to get the win. The left fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Harpoon ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Good win for us," said Yei. "We'll lace up our cleats and go after the next one."
The Harpoon' win now puts them at 59-66.
