Deltas Fall to Oilers, 7-1
|
Sacramento had no answer for Long Beach Oilers hurler Joel Carson, who overwhelmed Deltas hitters as the Oilers coasted to victory, 7-1. Carson, now 3-0, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 4, walking 4, and allowing 1 run. Omer Schaar earned the save for Long Beach, his 3rd of the year.
The Oilers got a big hit from catcher Connor Clavell. In the bottom of the eighth, Clavell pounded a 3-run home run to right-center. His 4th home run of the season put the Oilers ahead, 7-1.
Clavell attributed the win to his team's "hyper resolve."
Today's win puts Long Beach at 26-16, while Sacramento falls to 24-18.
