The Sacramento Deltas and Portland Chinook provided some drama for the home crowd.
Portland left-hander Ben McLaughlin helped his team edge Sacramento by the score of 3-2. McLaughlin kept the opposing lineup in check. McLaughlin got the win, improving to 1-7. He allowed 4 hits and walked 5 over 6.2 innings. McLaughlin allowed 2 runs.
The Chinook got an important contribution from second baseman Gary Davis, who in the bottom of the first punched a 2-1 slider into center for a 2-run triple. It was his 1st triple of the season and put the Chinook ahead, 3-0.
"That's baseball," said Sacramento manager Jason Doyle. "You're not always going to be hitting on all cylinders."
Portland is in last place in the Humboldt with a record of 18-33.
