Alleghenies Win in Extras, 5-2
|
The West Virginia Alleghenies picked up a win at Raceway Park, knocking off the Kentucky Thoroughbreds, 5-2. Starting pitcher Min-zhong Lou was an essential part of his team's success. West Virginia pitcher Eduardo Torres got the win. He's now 6-3. Ramiro Pérez was tagged with the loss. Kentucky has now lost 4 straight.
The outcome might have been different for West Virginia, had it not been for Alejandro Luján, the seven-time All-Leather Award winner . Luján stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 15th inning to put West Virginia up, 3-2. For the game, he was 2 for 7, including 1 double and 1 single.
In comments to the West Virginia Bulletin, Lou admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
