The El Ray Vampiros had to overcome a good performance from Merida pitcher Carlos Rivera to claim a 3-2 win at Adelantados Ballpark. Rivera went 8 innings and allowed 1 run. The second-place Vampiros have won 4 straight games.
El Ray used a clutch hit from Claudio Cardona to get the win. The first baseman drilled a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Vampiros ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Todd Newman.
