The bats were silent much of the day at Adelantados Ballpark. But Robinson Sánchez conjured up just enough offense to carry the Adelantados past the El Ray Vampiros, 3-1. Sánchez went 1-3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Gabriel Hernández was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 9 of 11 save opportunities. Merida is now 25-40, El Ray 37-28.
With Merida trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Sánchez hit a cutter from Félix López for a 3-run home run. It was his 7th home run of the season and put the Adelantados ahead, 3-1.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Adelantados manager Todd Newman, "I like our chances."
