Sols Suffer 8-3 Setback
|
Ángel Villanueva had a hand in El Ray defeating Hermosillo by the score of 8-3. Villanueva went 4 for 5 at the plate, scoring 2 times and driving in 2 runs. Bernardo Sánchez was the winning pitcher. Over 6.1 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 9 hits, with no walks and 5 strikeouts. Earning his 1st save of the year was Mario López.
The Vampiros got a big at-bat from first baseman Nelson Herrera. For the game, Herrera went 1 for 2 with a double and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI. In the bottom of the third, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 2nd double of the season gave El Ray a 4-3 lead.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Herrera told the El Ray Gazette.
El Ray is now 42-39, Hermosillo 46-35.
