Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Torrenas
|
Ballpark of Guadalajara was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Zapopan Torrenas and Guadalajara Chivas Rayadas.
Guadalajara designated hitter Miguel Morán had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Morán was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2, even as Zapopan beat the Chivas Rayadas, 5-4. Ramón Pérez collected his 20th save.
Zapopan needed the clutch hitting of Francisco Montés to notch the win. The right fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Torrenas on top, 5-4. For the game, Montés had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Montés told the Zapopan Gazette.
Zapopan is now 52-31, 6 games up in the Zona Norte.
