Pitcher Julián Alaniz was sensational for the Zapopan Torrenas in his team's 2-1 triumph over the Leon Zapateros. Alaniz picked up the win, and it was well-earned. Ramón Pérez earned his 21st save in 24 chances. Their 53-31 record puts the Torrenas first in the Zona Norte.

Manny Gonzáles had a critical at-bat with one out in the bottom of the sixth for Zapopan. He came through with a run-scoring single to put Zapopan in front, 2-0.

"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Leon manager Juan Rodríguez. "The effort was great."
