Coyotes Drop Torrenas, 2-1

The Nezahualcoyotl Coyotes did just enough to sneak past the Zapopan Torrenas, 2-1, at Torrenas Ballpark. Nezahualcoyotl pitcher António Flores, in particular, had a standout performance. Luis Escalante snagged the win in relief. In 2.2 innings, the right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit. He's now 1-0 on the season. Ramiro Martínez picked up the save for Nezahualcoyotl, his 13th of the year.
Nezahualcoyotl used the timely hitting of Daniel Sutton Jr. to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Coyotes on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Against this team here, fangs out late in the game, it's nice to beat them," said Nezahualcoyotl skipper Albert De La Cruz.
Nezahualcoyotl is now 51-45, while Zapopan is 60-36.
