Mateo Collects Hit Number 2000 Wednesday, April 18th , 2040 Havana's Ricardo Mateo entered the record books today as he collected hit number 2000 at PRTC Stadium. "I am proud of this. Not too many players reach this level. You have to be around quite a few years and you have to get a lot of hits," Mateo said after the game. On his milestone day he went 4 for 5 as the Leones won 9-4 over the San Juan Coqui. To date Mateo has a .280 career batting average and has totaled 248 home runs.
