Apollos Caporn Booms 3 HRs Friday, April 20th , 2040 Tempe Apollos right fielder Li Caporn put on a dazzling display of power today at The Malthouse against the Madison Malts. In the 10-1 Apollos victory Caporn penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts. "He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Madison manager Hirohisa Hayakawa said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well." Along with his three home runs, the 25-year-old had 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Caporn said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today." Li Caporn hit a two-run home run off Pedro Molina in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Pedro Molina in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Francisco Santana in the 6th and singled in the 8th. This year Caporn is hitting at a .338 pace with 8 home runs and 17 RBIs. He has played in 16 games and scored 12 times. |
