Super Swinger -- Uki Slams 5 Hits Friday, June 3rd , 2039 Even as a kid, Gashie Uki said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Clifton Stadium today, Uki showed how well he learned that lesson. The 24-year-old right fielder had 5 hits in 5 at-bats for the Clifton Dons, helping his team knock off the Evansville Tri-Staters by a score of 10-5. "They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did today." Gashie Uki singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Tsuneo Yoshida in the 5th and hit an RBI single in the 7th. This season Uki is batting .342 with 76 hits, 8 home runs, 34 RBIs, 19 walks, .402 OBP and has scored 35 runs. He has played in 55 games. View Boxscore |
