Big Day with Bat: Ibarra 5-for-6 Wednesday, August 17th , 2039 It wasn't just another day at the ballpark for Carlos Ibarra of the Akron Ambers. Ibarra went on a tear at Anchormen Stadium and cracked hit after hit off Newport News pitching. When the dust settled on the diamond, the 24-year-old center fielder had a career 5-for-6 day and something he will long remember. "Yeah, it'll be something nice to tell the grandkids, but I don't think I'll tell them we lost," he joked in the BNN postgame interview. Despite Ibarra's personal accolades, the Newport News Anchormen walked off the field with the 3-2 win. Carlos Ibarra singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 6th, flied out in the 8th, singled in the 10th and singled in the 12th. So far this year Ibarra is batting .248 with no home runs, 23 RBIs and 37 runs scored. View Boxscore |
