Wood Cracks 5 Hits Friday, September 2nd , 2039 It was a hits blitz for Roland Wood at Ballpark of Shizuoka today. The Niigata Gigans center fielder tore into the Shizuoka Anguirus for 5 hits in 6 at-bats, but it wasn't enough to win the game. The Anguirus swept past the Gigans 5-4 to ruin Wood's day. "We weren't locating our pitches well," Niigata manager Shigeaki Shiroi explained after the game. "Once you get behind in the count, you have to make really good pitches, rather than pretty good pitches, and we weren't able to do that today. Getting 5 hits from Roland was nice but it wasn't enough." Roland Wood grounded out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 9th and tripled in the 11th.
