5 hits in a game has always been a big milestone in baseball -- 5 hits in a game gets a player's name in the record book, win or lose. Jiro Murase got his name recorded today, but the Sioux Falls Lakota picked up the win at Field of the Missionaries, topping the Provo Missionaries, 8-6.

"He bushwhacked us," said winning manager Jorge Garza. "We were lucky to come out ahead."

Murase, who leads the RML in stolen bases with 12, spoke to reporters in the clubhouse following the game, saying his nerves only set in once he was on the cusp of the milestone.

"I got too much adrenaline going when I realized that this could be a once-in-a-lifetime day," the center fielder said. "I think the coaches could tell I was going to be ready to swing at anything close. That's why my third base coach told me to calm down and wait for a good pitch. That got me back on track."

Jiro Murase grounded out in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a two-run double in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, grounded out in the 8th, doubled in the 11th, doubled in the 14th and singled in the 16th.

In 20 games this season Murase has compiled a .303 batting average with 27 hits and 3 home runs. He has also scored 13 times and knocked in 15 runs.
