Gutiérrez Stretches Hit String to 25 Saturday, June 11th , 2039 The Edmonton Mall Ratz may have proven to be mere mortals today as they lost 6-3 to the Toronto Phantoms, but Rubén Gutiérrez continued to hit like a god. The shortstop collected 1 hit in 1 at-bat in the loss and extended his hitting streak to 25 games. "Gutiérrez is playing great and is on fire right now," Mall Ratz manager Ramón Arroyo said. "Hopefully his play can spark the rest of our team and help us pick up some wins." Gutiérrez was apparently not happy with the game and when pressed by reporters in the locker room only said "nothing else matters but the loss." Rubén Gutiérrez doubled in the 2nd. This year Gutiérrez has hit at a .341 pace and produced 31 RBIs, 1 home run and scored 32 runs. |
