Bears Shut Out by Vera, 9-0 Wednesday, July 13th , 2039 Birmingham dropped a 9-0 shutout to Domingo Vera and the Nassau Vulcans at Vulcan Field today. The Bears offered little resistance to Vera, who stopped them on 4 hits, fanned 3 and walked 0. "It just felt right today," the right-handed Vera told reporters after the win. "Even with the rain, it didn't throw me off my rhythm." To date this season Vera sports a 4-5 mark with a 5.21 ERA in 14 starting assignments.
