Reins Romero Smacks 5 Hits Wednesday, August 10th , 2039 After a 5-hit effort to lead Calexico's 9-4 victory over the Ensenada Cenicienta del Pacifico, third baseman Fernando Romero told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day." "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the North American Farm Team Affiliation-level is really something special." The 21-year-old player earned his accolades today at Triad Ballpark with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Cenicienta del Pacifico. "His swing is getting there," said Reins skipper Hokusai Tanaka, who spoke glowingly of Romero after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Fernando did that to perfection today." Fernando Romero singled in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Bas Wagenmakers in the 7th, doubled in the 8th and hit a GRAND SLAM off Pepe Estrada in the 9th.
