Just ask Ron Long -- he was the King of Swing against the McConaugheys, but his Scarlet Brutes were beaten 4-3 anyway. The Ohio State center fielder had 6 chances against the Marshall and delivered 6 hits in a sensational game. "Unbelievable feeling," he told the press. "It felt great to be hitting like that, but a downer when you look at the scoreboard. 6-for-6 does wonders for your confidence, but it's a shame we couldn't win, too." Ron Long singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Mike Sawyer in the 8th, grounded out in the 9th, singled in the 12th, singled in the 14th, doubled in the 16th and walked in the 18th.
