UAB Held Hitless by Webb
Monday, March 22nd , 2038
Excitement reigned at Astronauts Ballpark today as Purdue Astronauts hurler Bill Webb tossed a baseball rarity -- a no-hitter.
After defeating the UAB Dragons, 6-0, he was swamped by reporters in the clubhouse for postgame comments.
"I'm just glad to be here," Webb said. "Today I just went right at the Dragons as hard as I could, as long as I could."
Webb chalked up 8 strikeouts and allowed 1 walk in his superb performance.
"I don't think they could have stopped him with a howitzer today," said Purdue manager Ramón Rodríguez.
Over the season Webb has thrown 30 innings and dished out 22 strikeouts with a 2-0 mark and a 0.90 ERA.
