Ruíz Is ABSF-MEX Batting Champ Sunday, December 4th , 2039 The numbers speak for themselves: a .320 batting average in 110 games, 140 hits, 19 doubles, 1 triple, 51 home runs, 118 RBIs, 81 runs scored and 29 walks. Those numbers added up to a batting title for Jorge Ruíz of the San Luis Potosi Jardineros. The 34-year-old first baseman received the 2039 Alianza Beisbol Al Sur de la Frontera batting trophy today. At the award ceremony, Ruíz was definitely proud of his achievement. "I always knew that I had the talent to win a batting title," Ruíz commented to reporters, "but I've had trouble at times with consistency. Everything came together this season. I hope this is not the last time. It will be a challenge, but I hope to win it again." |
