Bayamon's Ramírez Gets SJWL-PR WL Newcomer of the Year Award Saturday, January 7th , 2040 The brightest new star in the San Juan Winter League has been named. The 2039 Newcomer of the Year Award has been handed out to Bayamon's second baseman Mario Ramírez, who outshined all his first-year peers in the balloting and on the diamond. He hit .252 for the Bayamon Predators, racking up 55 hits, no home runs, 19 RBIs, and 17 runs scored to capture the trophy. He received 6 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Jesús Ferniza of the Guaynabo Commandos finished second in voting, while Stan Smith of the Toa Baja Gringos finished third.
