Pérez to Donate Kidney to Ailing Cousin
Sunday, December 11th , 2039
Portland reliever António Pérez has decided to retire from baseball in order to donate a kidney to his cousin. Doctors say Pérez's cousin, who has advanced kidney disease, probably won't survive without a new organ.

"As much as I love the game of baseball, I love my cousin more," said Pérez. "I'm just doing what I would hope someone would do for me if I needed it."

Miroel Boulanger had nothing but praise for his teammate.

"António is such an incredible guy. To walk away from all of this to help someone he cares about just shows how much class he has."

His manager, Artie Herman, was equally impressed with Pérez's generosity. "It takes a lot of character to make a sacrifice like that. We wish him and his cousin all the best and we'll definitely be praying for their speedy recovery."
