Ruckus Reaps 5-Game Suspensions Sunday, July 31st , 2039 Baseball confrontations occasionally get intense and sometimes that tension becomes too much and boils over into more than just words. This time it happened to North Sydney's Jesús Castillo and Hobart's Jaap Groenevelt. The two were the main participants in a fight that cleared the benches. Today both were suspended by the league for 5 games for their aggressive actions. "I hope things settle down now," the manager of the Devils said later. "There's no reason for us to be locked in a cycle of revenge. We all need to focus on baseball instead." Castillo has a .225 average and a .307 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 20 hits, 3 home runs and driven in 8 runs. Groenevelt has taken the mound for 12 relief appearances this season, nailing down 1 save while notching a 4-0 record with a 2.63 ERA. The Hobart reliever has limited opposing batters to a .220 batting average. |
