The Evansville Tri-Staters bested the Camaguey Tinajon, 7-6, at Tinajon Ballpark. Mario Valdés was one of the standouts. He went 3-4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Luis Salinas was the winner. Over 7.1 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 8 hits, with 1 walk and 9 strikeouts. Barney Stone was credited with the save for Evansville, his 12th of the season.

Steve Overgaag, the 32-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Overgaag contributed a run-scoring hit-by-pitch in the top of the sixth inning to put Evansville up, 4-3.

"Scoring runs is scoring runs," said Evansville skipper Pepe Espinosa. "It's important to have different ways to do it."

The first-place Tri-Staters lifted their record to 25-16.
