Racine Mettle Tested in Tight 1-0 Win
|
In a low-scoring game between the Racine Lakers and the Provo Missionaries, pitcher Luther González was masterful on the mound. The Racine right-hander spearheaded his team's 1-0 win. The winner was Carlos Sánchez in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Steve Murdock took the loss. The loss makes Provo 20-19.
Sean Weaver was the walk-off hero for Racine. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Lakers shortstop hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" González told the Racine Citizen. "You win just by scoring more runs."
